A. PENGENALAN PROGRAM

Biasiswa MyBrainSc terbuka kepada seluruh warganegara Malaysia yang sedang atau akan mengikuti pengajian di peringkat Ijazah Pertama dan Pasca Ijazah secara sepenuh masa dalam bidang sains tulen iaitu Fizik, Kimia, Biologi dan Matematik di Universiti Awam (UA), Institut Pengajian Tinggi Swasta (IPTS) dan universiti terkemuka luar negara.

Universiti Malaya Student Financial Aid Award

Universiti Malaya would like to invite postgraduate candidates to apply for the Universiti Malaya Student Financial Aid award. This scheme is open to local and international candidates enrolled (active status) in Masters (research mode) or Doctoral programme.

Successful applicants will receive living allowance and up to 100% fee waiver (for selected fees).

Criteria

Applicant must meet all the below requirements

  1. This scheme is open to local and international postgraduate candidates enrolled in Masters (full research) or Doctorate programme at Universiti Malaya (UM).
  1. Applicants must have been offered as a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) by UM for a period of at least four (4) months for the applied semester (to apply for GRA, go to https://ra-recruitment.um.edu.my/)
  1. Applicants must not be sponsored by any federal/state/statutory body or any other organisation.
  1. Applicants must be free from any debt / outstanding fees with UM.
  1. Applicants must be within the Graduate on Time (GOT) period of candidature at the time of application, i.e.:
    • For Masters programmes     – 5th semester and below*
    • For Doctorate programmes  – 7th semester and below*

* The candidate’s Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) must still be active.

  1. Applications must be submitted online via maya.um.edu.my  http://maya.um.edu.my > Finance > Scholarship. Applications submitted in hard copy format will not be accepted.
  1. Applicants are required to upload their previous and latest Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) offer letter in the online application system. The GRA offer letter must have been issued by the Institute of Research Management & Services (IPPP), Universiti Malaya (https://umresearch.um.edu.my/).
  1. Incomplete applications will automatically be rejected.

Scholarship details

MyMaster
MyMaster is a program under the MyBrain15 Program, it’s aim is to finance students who’re pursuing their studies at Masters level. MyMaster’s objective is to stimulate and encourage high caliber graduates to continue their studies at a higher level in specific areas which is in line with the national development agenda. The program is designed to build and maintain the human capital and assist in transforming Malaysia to become a high income nation.
 MyPhD
MyPhD is one of the MyBrain15 Program which provides funding for students at the doctorate level to achieve the target of 60,000 PhD holders among Malaysians by 2023. The objective of this program is to increase the number of local professional personnels who are knowledgeable and highly skilled based on innovation and creativity that can generate economic growth and local industry.
This program is an incentive given by the Government in its efforts to improve the knowledge and skillset of community members in line with the economic development goals of the country under the New Economic Model (NEM).
Criteria
Applicant must meet all the below requirements
MyMaster:
  • Must be a Malaysian citizen
  • Not above 35 on 1 January 2018
Applicant must be:
  • Those who are not working and fixed income; or
  • Private sector workers; or
  • Lecturer Institution; or
  • The staff of government / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary); or
  • Pensioners government / statutory bodies / public
  • Applicants who work abroad are not eligible to apply.
  • The applicant does not have a Master’s degree or equivalent when applying MyMaster. The applicant must meet academic eligibility requirements as follows:
    • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent recognized by the Government with a CGPA of 2.75 – 4.00 or equivalent; or
    • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent recognized by the Government with a CGPA of 2.50 – 2.74 or equivalent work experience in a related field at least 3 years
    • Aged at least 30 years old and get the Certificate of Accreditation of Prior Experiantial Learning (APEL) for admission to the Master’s degree program (step 7, the Malaysian Qualifications Framework) from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
    • Meet the conditions for entrance and has received an unconditional offer letter from the university or have started their studies at university. Studies must be at Masters level or equivalent professional certificate with a degree only.
The applicant does not accept funding from any other party to pursue the same, unless authorized only as follows:
  • The applicant category of the public who are not working and not on a fixed income can receive allowances graduate research assistant or student loans from other sponsors, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.
  • Applicant category private staff and lecturers of Institution can receive student loans from other sponsors or additional funding from their employers, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.
  • Applicant category government employees / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary) and retired government / statutory bodies / public can receive student loans from other sponsors, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.
Mode of study to be followed by the applicant are as follows:
  • The applicant category of the public who do not work and irregular income must be enrolled full-time only.
  • Applicant category of private staff, lecturers Institution, government / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary) and retired government / statutory bodies / universities can study full time or part time.
  • The applicant can pursue studies in all areas whether in public or private institutions status of a University and University Campus Abroad.
MyPhDMust be a Malaysian citizen
Not more than 45 years old on January 1 2018
Applicant must be:
  • Those who are not working and fixed income; or
  • Private sector workers; or
  • Lecturer Institution; or
  • The staff of government / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary); or
  • Pensioners government / statutory bodies / public
Applicants who work abroad are not eligible to apply.
The applicant does not have a Doctoral Degree or equivalent when applying MyPhD. The applicant must meet academic eligibility requirements as follows:
  • Having a Master’s degree or equivalent recognized by the Government with a CGPA of 3:00 to 4:00 or equivalent; or
  • Master’s degree students who upgraded to a Doctorate by the university Senate.
  • Meet the conditions for entrance and has received an unconditional offer letter from the university or have started their studies at university. Studies must be at the doctorate level or equivalent professional certificate with a Doctorate only.
The applicant does not accept funding from any other party to pursue the same, unless authorized only as follows:
The applicant category of the public who are not working and not on a fixed income can receive allowances graduate research assistant or student loans from other sponsors, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.

MyBrainSc scholarship is open to all Malaysian citizens who are or will be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree and Postgraduate Typical full-time in the pure sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics at the Public University (UA). This program is one of the agenda of the Ministry of Higher Education to achieve the goals of the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (PSPTN) and produce young scientists with a big heart and a bold challenge to produce world-class scholars and finally be recognized as a Nobel Laureate .

Applications for the Khazanah – INCEIF Scholarship for postgraduate degrees at INCEIF are open for Malaysians, for Master of Science in Islamic Finance and Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Finance.
INCEIF (International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance) was set up by Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia) in 2005 to develop human capital for the global Islamic finance industry. Commonly known as INCEIF – The Global University of Islamic Finance, it is the only university in the world dedicated to Islamic finance.

Criteria

Obtained a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (“CGPA”) of 3.50 or Second Class Upper for Bachelor’s Degree /
Obtained a minimum CGPA of 3.50 or distinction or ‘A’ grade average or equivalent at Masters level.
Obtained admission to MSc programme (Fulltime)
Obtained admission to PhD programme (Fulltime)

Not exceeding 40 years of age as at the enrolment date for the Doctorate programme.

Amount

The scholarship will cover all applicable tuition fees and monthly allowances for the duration of the course.

Preferred Discipline

Scholarships are awarded in the field of Islamic Finance.
