Shell Scholarship

The offering is for candidates to be sponsored 2 tiers A-levels and undergraduates in prestigious colleges and universities locally and overseas. This is subject to the scholastic performance of the student.

We look to sponsor students intending to pursue higher education in the following fields of study:

  • Engineering: Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Petroleum, Electrical & Electronics, Environmental, Sustainable
  • Sciences: Geology, Geosciences, Geomatics, Geophysics, Data Science
  • Commercial: Business & Management, Digital Marketing

Eligibility

  • Strong leadership skills and active participation in extracurricular activities such as societies and clubs, sports, etc.
  • Not presently holding other scholarships/loans
  • Consistently strong academic achievements as follows:
    • Minimum 8As (A/A+) in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) OR
    • Excellent O-level grades at IGCSE (A*/A)
  • Prior to application, ensure you are eligible to work in the country where the scholarship program is offered.

Step 1: Online Application

Complete your application online – note you can save time by connecting you LinkedIn profile. Before applying, make sure you are eligible to work in Malaysia. The application shouldn’t take more than 5-10 minutes

Step 2: Online Assessment

This will be a timed test that is divided into three sections, covering verbal skills, numerical skills, and abstract reasoning respectively. You would have 4 minutes to complete each section.Working style assessmentThis segment will assess your approach to working and your preferred behaviour across key personality factors. It will not be timed, and generally only takes 10-12 minutes to complete. We celebrate and value diversity at Shell, so we encourage you to be yourself when responding. You will then receive a ‘working styles’ report based on how you answered the questions.

Step 3: On Demand Video Interview

If you have been shortlisted after STEP 2, you’ll be sent an invite to complete an on-demand video interview. This short, self-recorded video interview is an opportunity for you to tell us about yourself and your qualifications. You’ll also see some of our current graduates who will ask you a series of pre-recorded competency-based questions. You may record the interview at any internet-enabled location at a time most convenient to you. For each question, you’ll have 30 seconds to prepare and 3 minutes to record your answer.

Step 4:  Final Interview

This is the last assessment stage, where you will be interviewed by the Scholarship Board of Trustees on scenario based questions and your academic & leadership experiences.

Undergraduate Scholarship 2024

The Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to eligible individuals who have received offers to pursue or are currently pursuing undergraduate studies.

The award of undergraduate scholarship is also available to existing pre-university scholarship recipients, subject to meeting BNM’s requirements:

  • Excellent examination results in any of the following:
    • A-Level: Minimum of 3As
    • STPM / Diploma / Matriculation: Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.50
    • Australian Matriculation: Minimum ATAR of 85%
    • American Foundation Program: Minimum SAT score of 1,500
    • International Baccalaureate (IB): 38
  • For candidates currently pursuing undergraduate study: Minimum current CGPA of 3.50
  • SPM: Minimum of 5 credits including Bahasa Melayu, English and Mathematics
  • Strong leadership qualities, proven teamwork capabilities, outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Not exceeding 25 years of age on 1 July 2024
  • Obtained an offer to pursue, or is currently pursuing, undergraduate study at one of BNM’s list of approved universities.

This scholarship is inclusive of tuition fees, subsistence, and related scholarship allowances.

Successful applicants will study disciplines that are related to Economics, Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Law and Computer Science.

Upon successful completion of the undergraduate programme, scholars will be required to be available for employment at BNM and will be bonded following the ratio of one year of study to two years of service.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for further assessments.

Overview

YTL Foundation Scholarship Programme

The YTL Foundation Scholarship Programme is for students who wish to pursue their tertiary education locally in public or private universities. Students who have finished their SPM, Matriculation, ‘A’ Levels or other foundation programmes can apply. There are up to 30 scholarships awarded under this scholarship programme every year.

Application Criteria

  1. Must come from a family that finds it a challenge to finance tuition fees and living expenses.
  2. The applicant must be a Malaysian citizen.
  3. The ability to study full-time is required.

Requirements

  1. SPM /IGSCE – Min 7As
  2. STPM/ Matriculation /Foundation – Min 2As/ CGPA 3.7
  3. ‘A’ Levels – Min 2As
  4. IB – 36 points

Eligibility

Our scholarship programme is open to students from all fields, with priority given to the following courses:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying

There are two components to the application form. When you click the link above, you will be prompted to complete Part 1 of the form, which asks for your personal information. Upon submission of Part 1, you will receive Part 2 via the email address you supplied. 

What should be included in the application form?

Please prepare the following documents, which must be uploaded into the
application form.

  2. Surety’s NRIC (We typically request that the father be the surety, unless circumstances do not permit)

Tunku Abdul Rahman (BTAR) Scholarship

The scholarship is open to all, focusing especially on high-potential students with a strong financial need to cover the expenses of the university’s tuition fees and living expenses during the course of the study. We encourage all Malaysians from all fields of study to apply as all applications will be reviewed individually and holistically by the YTAR team. Among the selection criteria that we look for in the selection process are:

Pemberian Biasiswa

Penerima yang layak menerima biasiswa ini adalah mendapat bantuan kewangan seperti berikut:

  • Yuran universiti: Penajaan penuh untuk yuran pengajian di institut pengajian tinggi awam (IPTA) atau swasta (IPTS) yang diiktiraf oleh MQA.
  • Elaun bulanan: Pemberian elaun sara pada untuk setiap bulan sepanjang biasiswa.
  • Elaun tahunan: Elaun tahunan diberi untuk pengembangan profesional bagi peningkatan diri setiap penerima. Elaun alat tulis dan buku teks turut diberikan.
  • Elaun sekali sepanjang biasiswa: Elaun ini diberikan dalam bentuk yang lain seperti pembelian komputer riba, kos tesis, pakaian rasmi ataupun juga tiket penerbangan (antara Semenanjung dan Timur Malaysia).

Program Kepimpinan

Penerima biasiswa ini perlu menyertai program kepimpinan yang disediakan merangkumi:

  • Mentorship
    – Penerima biasiswa akan menerima bimbingan oleh para profesional dan juga alumni tentang kerjaya dan perkembangan diri.
  • Peluang pembangunan
    – Penerima biasiswa akan menghadiri bengkel dan kem sepanjang 2 tahun untuk mengasah kemahiran kepimpinan, pemikiran kritikal dan kemahiran interpersonal.
  • Projek kemasyarakatan
    – Sebagai sebahagian daripada perjalanan pembangunan kepimpinan diri, setiap penerima biasiswa perlu mengurus dan menjalankan sebuah projek kemasyarakatan di bawah bimbingan yayasan ini. 

Syarat Kelayakan

Pemohon perlu memenuhi syarat kelayakan yang ditetapkan oleh pemohon seperti berikut:

  1. Warganegara Malaysia.
  2. Umur tidak melebihi 25 tahun pada tarikh tutup permohonan biasiswa.
  3. Telah menamatkan pengajian pra-universiti dan mempunyai sekurang-kurangnya dua tahun pengajian sarjana muda di mana-mana universiti awam atau swasta tempatan yang diiktiraf oleh MQA.

Keutamaan diberikan kepada:

  1. Pernah atau sedang menghadapi cabaran yang sukar.
  2. Menunjukkan potensi kepimpinan dan menunjukkan nilai Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman.
  3. Calon yang datang daripada latar belakang yang mencabar, seperti Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU), calon masyarakat luar bandar dan calon daripada keluarga berpendapatan kurang daripada RM4,850 sebulan.

Permohonan boleh dilakukan dengan mengikuti tatacara permohonan seperti berikut:

  3. Isi maklumat yang diperlukan dengan lengkap dan betul.

Dokumen Sokongan

Dokumen sokongan yang perlu dimuat naik ketika membuat permohonan adalah seperti berikut:

  1. Salinan kad pengenalan.
  2. Salinan keputusan Pra-U atau semester terkini.
  3. Surat Tawaran Kemasukan Universiti (jika berkenaan).
  4. Bukti pendapatan seperti penyata pendapatan atau slip cukai pendapatan atau slip gaji ibubapa atau penjaga (3 bulan) atau penyata akaun bank.
  5. Surat Sokongan/Letter of Recommendation dari pendidik ataupun majikan calon (tidak wajib tetapi digalakkan).
